Boom! Right after meeting Mike Mingola earlier this year at the 30th anniversary of HEROE'S Con in Charlotte NC, I had the rare opportunity to meet the "other" primary Hellboy artist extraordinaire, Duncan Fegredo.
Duncan doesn't make too many state side appearances so this was a good chance to dig in deep with an insightful interview with one of today's premier artists. Like my other British interview with Richard Starkings however, this turned into more of a running conversation which is great! That's how I loke my interviews to run anyways. I like them to have an organic feel to them, a sense of just hanging out with an old pal. Richard Starkings HAD the longest running interview until I ran into Duncan, topping out at nearly 20 minutes! Those Brits, man, they love to talk!
We spoke about everything from Duncan's start in the comics field right on up through his run on Hellboy and everything in between. The interview started off with out either one of us really knowing - so I do apologize, but we cut in right around where Duncan is talking about his work on Kid Eternity and then we just kept on rolling from there.
Duncan Fegredo is a really amiable fellow with a very rooted passion for comics. A delight to talk to and wondrous art to marvel over.
If you get the opportunity, swing over to his homepage and pick yourself up some original artwork, like the one on the left here at dirt cheap prices!
