Behind The Panels
Comic Book Creators Interviews
As far as conclusions go, this one was a bit of a downer.
It took us three issues in this story arc just to get to the town, then the last two issues felt so rushed. I'm hoping that the foundation that was laid down had some really good seeds planted because this was just a wind-out-of-my-sails type of issue.
Rick's standing bloodied and irritated, as he often does and making a general mess of things, like he does - but now the change has come over him.
He talks to Gregory who survived the shank attack on him by Ethan. Gregory makes a deal with Rick - "We'll give you half of everything if you take care of this Negan situation"
Okay - well, um. How long have they been doing this? Couple of years now (in the timeline of the story that is). Rick is feeling mighty confident as the leader here. Worn torn Veteran of the zombie apocalypse and all. He's prepared to basically volunteer his group and feel like everyone can move in when this nasty Negan business is all finished up and just basically take the town over and create a big old army. Even Carl chimes in with a question that shocks Jesus, and his reaction is priceless!
Rick is so confident that when he wakes up on the morning they're leaving to head back to their town he gives ole scar face (Andrea) a peck on the cheek. When Rick tells Scar Face (Andrea) and Michonne his idea, they aren't digging it too much.
Then he tries to give the BIG speech. But I thought it fell really flat. I wasn't convinced.
I don't know. For a 4 issue story arc I feel sort of cheated.
I am super excited about the fact that we've only got 4 more issues to go until Issue 100!
See you guys next month!

Come on! Let's take a trip with Rick, Michonne, Glen, Andrea and Carl as Jesus leads them into a brand new community! One that he has promised has been built on a bartering system with other communities.
Rick Had Jesus tied up for a while. Really couldn't trust him, you know.
But eventually, finally, three issue into this story arc, Rick is (still apprehensive) but willing to go into the new community.
No sooner do they enter and meet the boss, then some guy runs in with a knife, delivers a message to the boss (which is a knife in the gut in case you were wondering) then Rick has to do what he does, he slits the guys throat and stands up in a bloody mess addressing the people by looking at them as if this is a normal every day occurrence and says "WHAT?"
With the new boss out for the count and crazy guy laying with a slit throat - what's to happen of our bedraggled band of misfits? Carl's still missing an eye - Rick's still missing his hand. Things aren't looking too good. Then again, Rick standing in the last panel, confident and pissed, hints at (I think) an obvious turn towards Rick being the new "Boss" if our characters from the other small town do move in here.
But with the threat of some psycho (apparently) named Negan from (apparently) one of the other communities, Rick may decide not to move in, because, you know, there's already plenty of crazy people out there. The less they have to deal with the better, right?
What did you guys think of the new issue?
